6 Steps To Let Go of Who You Think You Are

If you really want to let go of who you think you are, you have to go of your own expectations. Expectations are created through your tradition, your culture and your identification.


How you identify yourself usually determines what kind of conditions you attract. Additionally, who you think you are is not a representation of what you truly are, if what you truly are is in constant evolution.

By you not identifying with your nationality, your race, your religion, you have the ability to reprogram your subconscious mind and because of this you attract new opportunities into your life.

Get rid of the labels

When you give yourself a label, it’s like putting yourself into a box; and once you are into that box it is hard to get out of.

Also, people have expectations of you according to the labels you give yourself and you, by consequence, have expectations of yourself according to what other people expect from you.

In letting go of who you think you are, it’s all about stripping away these labels.

These identities give ourselves a sense of belonging, but at the same time they keep many of us in bondage. Once you realize that you are a free spirit you are going to attract your reflection anyway.

Break the routine

Breaking your routine is powerful. A lot of people have a daily routine which reminds them of who they are, but eventually they get bored. But what happens once we start changing our routine?

We start creating new neural pathways in the brain and this allows us to redefine who we are. Once again, we let go of who we think we are.

Love your body

It all starts with moving into your body. Once you are in alignment with your body, it’s much easier to let go of all the ideas that you have of yourself.

By moving into your body, you are able to access your true emotions and feeling. This is important in order to tap into your intuition.

Listen to yourself

To let go of who you think you are, you have to start listening to the one true voice. Not what friends and family think. You don’t need the validation from other people, you need their support.

Have fun

Don’t take yourself too seriously. A lot of people feel that they are on the main stage; that is why it is so hard to let go of who we think we are.

You are not supposed to take everything so seriously. Instead, a lot of people are full of tension because they are not allowing themselves to relax.

Relaxation is what you are, stress is what you think you should be. To let go of who you think you are, you have to distress.

Awakening your inner child is how to let go of who you think you are. Too many people have been disconnected from their childhood passions because they were told that is useless in today’s world.

But when you go back to your childhood and remind yourself of what was the most inspiring thing you did, you also remember that you were having a great time and that you were in your true authenticity. You were stepping into that true state of being also called mindfulness.

Mindfulness meditation is also a great way to let go of who you think you are. With mindfulness meditation you absorb yourself in the present moment 100%.

Live in the now

A lot of us are living in the past. It is wonderful to learn from the past but not live there. Immerse yourself in the present moment.

Don’t escape it because anxiety is born from the desire to escape the present moment. Letting go of who you think you are is being comfortable in the present moment.
